This week we will be posting a little info to help you better know your AGBA Board Members.
Today’s featured member is Emily Pennington, our President.
Where do you work/what is your organization name? I work at Conner Prairie in Fishers, IN
How long have you/your organization raised Arapawas? We have had Arapawa goats since I believe 2015.
We started out with a few goats to see if they would work for our program and they worked perfectly for what we needed.
Why did you start raising Arapawas?
At Conner Prairie we work to preserve heritage livestock that would have been as accurate as possible for our 19th century sites. While Arapawa goats were not in Indiana at that time, they are able to represent the type of goat that would have been here. They are friendly, great mothers, and the variety of colours you can get are fun!
What is your favorite Arapawa coat color/pattern? My favourite color pattern so far is the black and tan goats, especially if they have the tan circle on their head!
What are you most excited for with the future of Arapawas? We have really worked on connecting our members so they can get to know one another and grow as a community.
Continuing to see members join and stay in the organization is what I am most exciting about, besides obviously watching our small breed continue to grow and thrive!
