Conservation for this breed isn't a new thing, though we are seeing in increase in recognition and interest as the years continue to pass on. Zoos, museums, and private farms have always been the lifeblood of our efforts to bring this breed further away from extinction.
Conner Prairie is one of our proudest members, one of the shining gold stars in the efforts they put in. And, crazy enough, they just hit a decade with the breed! They are one of our largest breeders for the Arapawas, and as a museum, they are doing an incredible job in spreading information to travelers from all around.
We always say, conservation comes with education!
We encourage you to read about their Arapawa journey on their webpage: https://www.connerprairie.org/a-decade-with-the-arapawas-how-rare-goats-found-a-home-and-a-future-at-conner-prairie/
As one of the largest foundations to the breed, with genetics you're sure to see in many of your pedigrees, Conner Prairie has been doing amazing work to continue to help this breed thrive. It's always an encouragement to go take a visit out to them and see some of the oldest goats in our history.
