Hello everyone! First of all, big thanks to Emily for getting this website rolling!
I wanted to test out the forum and also invite members to start chatting, and most of all invite feedback from members about what they would like to see from the organization going forward.
We are in a transitional phase, and a lot of positive growth is on the horizon!
Please feel free to post and introduce yourself and your herd!
Thanks,
Callene
I'm Stephanie, Livestock Manager at Conner Prairie in Fishers, IN (where Emily works!) Like Emily said, we focus on raising heritage breeds that would have been here (or are similar to what would have been here) in Indiana during the early 19th century. Our mission is to inspire curiosity about, raise awareness of, and educate people about heritage breeds like the Arapawas! The Arapawas have been a perfect fit here at Conner Prairie.
Hi all, I am Emily! (The one who made the website.) If you ever need any help navigating around feel free to email me at nyman@connerprairie.org!
I have been helping raise heritage breeds at a living history park in Fishers, IN. Arapawa goats are just one of the few that we focus on. We love the breed because of how docile they are and because of so many other things!
Lis there a breed standard we should be looking at when we choose to register or not? For instance, Merekara has one ear that flops and one that stays straight. Is this something you would want to not breed? Or it’s fine?
